Connecting to a XenServer host from XenCenter might give you the following error: “Failed”,”Failed to connect to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this example we’ll use 10.0.0.90 as the test IP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initial error you’ll see is this error below, when trying to connect to your host.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s happened for me a few times, and I’ve expected it to be a firewall issue every time. However, it’s often more simple than that. Here’s how to fix it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Open an SSH connection to the host.<\/li>
  2. When you’re in, write xsconsole<\/strong>.<\/li>
  3. When the UI opens, it’ll show as depicted below.<\/li>
  4. Press F8<\/strong> to restart xapi<\/em>.<\/li>
  5. When xapi<\/em> has restarted, attempt connection again.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Upon connection, you should see that you can now connect without issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
